Known as Mom and Grandma to everyone she met. Some may know her for her baking, her hugs, Halloween costumes, loving caring heart, beautiful smile, generosity, selflessness & wonderful sense of humor. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Kay retired from Hennepin County in 2007 after 33 years and then worked part-time as a Sun Country agent for 10 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bud & Evelyn Schommer; brother-in-law, Robert Miemietz; Survived by loving husband of 46 years, Harold; children, Amanda (Dwayne) Bloodsaw, Monica Richards, Shawn (Dawn) Richards; grandchildren, Jason, Tanner (Linda), Karli, Samantha & Christina; great-grandchildren, Codie, Nevaeh, Cuyler, Kaysia, Easton & Isaiah; siblings, Jan Miemietz & Dale (Rochelle) Schommer; nieces & nephews, Judy, Terri, Robb, Barb & Dave Schommer; great-nieces & nephews, Chris, Becca, Evie, Derek & Kevin; many other wonderful family members and friends. Even though she was taken too soon, she loved and was loved. She laughed and she lived. A Celebration of Kay’s life will be held at KOZLAK-RADULOVICH CHAPEL (1918 University Ave. NE) Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 from 4-7 PM with a Time of Remembrance at 6 PM. To honor Kay, please wear your favorite travel or baking attire, or anything that reminds you of her. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Alzheimer's/Dementia awareness, the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
